The St. Peter Youth Basketball Association is a group of volunteer members made up of parents, community members, and current players interested in furthering the game of basketball for the youth in our community in South Central Minnesota. Board members are elected for 3-year terms and serve various roles on the board. It is the intent that all communications from the board are of one voice with the intent of good sportsmanship and spirit.
Welcome to the 2024-2025 SPYBA Season!
Please read through this information carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. Registration will open on August 1, 2024 and will close on August 23rd at midnight. The registration period is brief because we must submit our uniform order by August 24th. This is due to the six-week processing time required to receive our uniforms. Click here to register.
The St. Peter Youth Basketball Association (SPYBA) is set to conduct player evaluations on September 22nd and 29th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Peter High School. We will soon provide more details about the specific times for each age level.
Our girls and boys varsity basketball staff will facilitate these evaluations. The aim is to categorize players into ability-based teams from grades 4 to 8, contingent on the number of participants in each grade. Please note that registration is open only to students from grades 3 to 8, who are enrolled in either public or private schools within the Saint Peter School District #508.
The registration costs for players in grades 5 to 8 remain unchanged from last year. However, the fee for 3rd and 4th graders has increased from $185 to $200. This increase is due to the addition of an extra tournament for these age groups, bringing the total to five tournaments, one more than last year. All teams will continue to have practice sessions twice a week, each lasting an hour and a half.
** PLEASE NOTE ** Player registration closes at 11:59 PM on August 23rd.
Cashback for Uniforms
Third and fourth graders will continue to use the existing uniforms, which will be returned annually. Families are encouraged to return complete uniforms, consisting of shorts and a jersey, during the uniform fitting sessions. In return, the Association will provide a $30 cashback per uniform with a family maximum of $60. Families can return these uniforms ONLY during the uniform fitting sessions and at the 3rd and 4th grade uniform distribution on September 11th and September 18th from 6:00-8:00 at the St. Peter Commuity Center in Room 217. We will conduct an inventory check to ensure the uniforms are free from rips, major stains, and that the numbers are clearly visible. You may choose to keep your uniform if you wish. However, we're offering incentives for returning them, especially to benefit our younger players.
New Uniforms for 5th-8th Graders
Students from 5th to 8th grade will receive new uniforms, replacing the discontinued ones. The uniform set includes a reversible jersey and shorts. These uniforms, superior in quality to those of previous years, are designed to last for many years. We strongly advise players to try on the jerseys during the uniform fitting dates due to uncertainty about the fit of these new uniforms. You'll need to specify sizes for both the shirt and shorts.
Warm-ups
Players can order a warmup jersey, personalized with their last name, for $35. To purchase a new one, you'll need to specify your size on the registration form. We're using the same warmup design as previous years, so players can choose to reuse their old ones if they wish.
5th-8th Grade Uniform and Warm-up Fitting Dates
Uniforms and warm-ups can be tried on at the St. Peter Community Center. The fittings will take place on August 14th in and August 20th in Room 217, from 6:00-8:00 PM. We'll have a complete range of sizes for both girls and boys, including all sizes of warm-ups. If you prefer to finalize your registration after trying on the uniforms and warm-ups, you have until midnight on August 23rd. Please note, due to time constraints to ensure we have our uniforms before the season starts, these will be the only two fitting sessions.
3rd and 4th grade uniform distribution will be on September 11th in Room 300 and September 18th in Room 217 from 6:00-8:00 at the St. Peter Community Center.

Volunteering
The success of our tournament hinges on the support of parent volunteers. We require each family to contribute three hours of volunteer work, regardless of the number of players they have in the association. Parents of players in grades 3 through 8 must provide a separate $100 deposit check for each registered player. These deposit checks won't be cashed. Instead, we'll hold them until our home tournament concludes on February 1st and 2nd, 2025. After you complete your volunteer shift, we'll either return or destroy your check. You can mail your deposit check to the address provided below or drop it off at the uniform fitting. Please note, that players won't be allowed to participate in practice or games until we receive a volunteer deposit.
