The St. Peter Youth Basketball Association is a group of volunteer members made up of parents, community members, and current players interested in furthering the game of basketball for the youth in our community in South Central Minnesota. Board members are elected for 3-year terms and serve various roles on the board. It is the intent that all communications from the board are of one voice with the intent of good sportsmanship and spirit.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 SPYBA Season!

Please read through this information carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. Registration will open on August 1, 2024 and will close on August 23rd at midnight. The registration window is smaller as we need to send our uniform order to BSN by August 24th due to the turnaround time of 6 weeks to get our uniforms. 

St. Peter Youth Basketball Association (SPYBA) player evaluations that will take place on September 22nd and September 29th from 4:00-7:00  at St. Peter High School. More information on specific  times for each age level will be posted soon .  Player evaluations will be facilitated by the girls and boys varsity basketball staff. Player evaluations will determine the split by ability teams in grades 4 through 8, depending on numbers in each grade level. Registration is limited to 3rd-8th grade students enrolled in public and private schools in the Saint Peter School District #508.

Player registration costs for grades 5th -8th grades are the same as last year. We have increased this year's fee for 3rd and 4th graders from $185 to $200.  We added one more tournament for these age levels so they will participate in 5 tournaments which is one more than last year.  All teams will also have 1.25 hours of practice time twice a week.

NEW UNIFORMS for Grades 5th-8th

3rd and 4th graders will continue to use the uniforms we have had in the past and they will be returned on an annual basis. Families can turn in complete uniforms (shorts and jersey) at the uniform fitting dates and the Association will be giving $30 cashback at the beginning of the 1st day of practice.  At the uniform fitting dates we will have a return sheet and uniform collector who will be taking inventory to make sure the uniform has no rips, no major stains and the numbers are visible. If you choose to not return your uniform that is fine as well but we wanted to offer some incentive to return the uniforms for our younger grades to use.  

5th-8th graders will be getting new uniforms as the previous uniforms are discontinued. The uniform consists of a reversible jersey and reversible shorts.  These uniforms are a better quality than previous years and should last for many years to come. We highly recommend that players try on the jerseys at the uniform fitting dates as we are not sure how these new uniforms will fit players.  You will be asked to provide a size for both a shirt and shorts. 

Warm-ups

Players will have the option to order a warmup jersey with their last name on them for $35. If you would like to purchase a new warmup you will be asked to select your size on the registration form. These are the same warm-ups that we have used in the past so players are also welcome to use the same warmup from previous years. 

Uniform and Warm-up Fitting Dates

Uniforms and warm ups will be available to try on at the St. Peter Community Center on August 14th in Room 219 and on August 21st in Room 217 from 6:00-8:00 PM.  We will have all sizes in girls and boys and all sizes of warmups for players to try on. If you would like to wait to complete your registration until after you are able to try on uniforms and warm ups, registration will be open until August 23rd at midnight. THESE WILL BE THE ONLY 2 FITTINGS DUE TO TIME SENSITIVITY TO GET OUR UNIFORMS BEFORE THE SEASON.

Player Scholarships

Our youth basketball association is working with Kids Connection to offer partial scholarship  for those who need financial assistance. If approved, families can get a 75% discount. If you have a player who wants to play basketball and are in need of a scholarship, please click here to go to the Kids Connect website to complete the application. You need to complete the application before you complete this registration form.

Volunteering

This organization relies on parent volunteers to make our tournamament successful. Each family will be required to volunteer 3 hours regardless of the number of players you have in the association.  We ask parents of 3rd-8th grade players to provide a separate $100 deposit check per player registered. Deposit checks will not be cashed, only held until the completion of our home tornament on February 1st and 2nd,  2025. The checks will  returned or destroyed after your work shift is complete. Please mail your deposit check to the address below or you can drop it off at the uniform fitting.  Players will not participate in practice or games until a volunteer deposit is provided.
